Sorry + Cellulite

I was away for a long weekend so it will take me a few days to catch up. No one is being purposely ignored!!!
While I'm doing that, a new question for my beloved advisory board:
Cellulite Treatments

I mean what the hell is going on round here. I thought this whole skin problem and the ways to control or destroy it have been done for. Now, when I'm finally delving into this problematics more thoroughly - it's a freaking shambles.

Some resources say diet can be solution, others say 'no way'. Massages, body wraps, use of electricity - I'm finding diametrically opposite beliefs. Endermologie is a valid treatment that is proved to be effective. Few clicks later it's merely a temporary solution. There are also some new hypes like acoustic waves and lasers; very expensive and with no actual and documented proof that it works.

I thought all those creams and lotions were useless, but now I'm actually considering them; e.g. RevitaShape and Murad. There is even a disagreement on what cellulite actually is!

I lost most of my yesterday looking through the internet for the right thing for me. And, as you can see, I got severely disheartened by the contradictory and unconfirmed pieces of information.
Therefore, if any of you knows something about how to combat this skin menace, please, give me a word or two.

My family, as a whole, combined their funds and bought me the gift I requested - a Wok.
We just went to look for it this morning, in the fourth store we hit the jackpot. It's from 'Silit', 'Silargan' line, and as far as I can tell it's a high-tech version of the traditional wok.

I'm very pleased. We really needed something like that in our kitchen. Especially now that quality preparation of vegetables is a big point for me. The price was..... disgustingly high, over half my month's salary. But since four of them were contributing to it, it was manageable.
Glad that my birthday was so conveniently soon, I'd have probably had some problems dishing out that much just for a pan!

Tomorrow we are going to our 'cottage' (I can't think of the more descriptive word). Usually just my parents go, but I really need some distance from the computers and city-life in general. It's supposed to be a nice, sunny day and we hope to harvest some plants and try out some recipes.

Star Trek recommendation

Yeah, a blast from the past.
I honestly have no idea if any one of you has had some experience with it as a fandom. The subject never came up. However, I'll assume you all know the Roddenberry's creation. If not, please share what you think of your visit to our messed up planet.

In any case, I recently got a chance to download and watch the whole The Original Series. I'm in the process now, and I already stumbled upon an episode I never watched before. I don't know your feelings about TOS, but I appreciate it highly.
Again, back to the point. The actual recommendation. Since I need only one episode of anything to start searching for fanfiction, I remembered (and am now reading) the stories of one universe that completely coloured my perception of Star Trek Universe. Made it into something far deeper then the TV screen ever showed.

The author's name is Istannor and although, af far as I know, he/she hasn't been active in the fandom for years - the universe created remains unparalleled. In my honest and humble opinion.

There also more stories in what author considers his/her canon and a parallel universe. They are all well worth reading.

If I'll ever have the time later on to create my personal list of the best fanfiction authors of all fandoms and of all times - this author will be in the top five. And as someone who has 15 years experience in dozens of fandoms, plus gigabytes worth of stories stored on the hard drive, I do not say something like that lightly.

I was reading one of Lois McMaster Bujold books in 'Vorkosigan Series'. For some reason I went to check something up on the publisher site, and a new world opened up to me.
However, the greatest thing was the discovery of a new author - David Weber. Here I'll recommend two of his series which have free books available on Baen. These are the first:

SF - 'Honor Harrington Series'

It's a story of one amazing woman whose exceptionallity is balanced, and brought in the realm of realism, by her humanity. If you know and love Miles Vorkosigan, you'll adore Honor. And vice-versa. If, for some reason, you don't read this genre, it's time to give it another try.

Fantasy - 'War God Series'

Frankly, I read this series first. On accident mostly. I was doing something I warmly and strongly recommend you do too - browsing through available books in the Library, reading summaries and a chapter or two. For reasons I truly haven't been able to figure out, the first few paragraph of this book seduced me utterly. (I was later hesitant to even start reading HH, thinking it couldn't possible be this good - but I did, eventually. There was no chance it could be anything but equally good - you'll understand if you ever read both series and think about them for a few minutes.)
Bahzell Bahnakson is truly an unlikely hero; but just like courage is not the absence of fear, so do true heroes never look for heroic deeds.

Browse through the Free Library. There are many good stories waiting for you there.
If you haven't, give a chance to these series, they are well worth it.
As for the Bujold's 'Vorkosigan Saga', you did read that, right? *raises an eyebrow*

Yesterday
Pulled the strike through. Learned that I can live without LJ. However, I miss the talk with all you girls.
Went to the Bahá'í celebration of the New Year with my mom. Enjoyed it.

Today
Spent the day with shopping (in the rain), cleaning the house and myself.
Bought the new DVD recorder and the rest of the Easter presents. I think everyone will be pleased.
Bought supplies for my new vegetarian diet. Didn't spent as much money as I feared.
Watched the Transformer movie. Was exactly what I expected. ( I still don't get why they gave them such ugly mugs, but that's not what surprised me. Jazz's death - I can not believe they made the whole scene last two seconds. I actually missed it; took my brain some time to rewind and realize what it saw.)
Finished a day long fasting (the moon diet) few hours ago. Was easy, comfortable.
Turned on the computer for the first time today just an hour ago.

Off to wash my hair and then to bed. I'm rather sleepy.....

Hmmm, somehow when it comes to SGA I keep recommending crossovers. Which is still funny to me because I really wasn't fond of them until very recently and I do not seek them actively. The story is called

Fandom: Hercules/Xena/“Across Time” & Stargate: Atlantis (Up to 3x16 - "The Game")
Rating: PG+13 for language and gore and being mean to people.
Warnings: Delightful crack. Some Rodney Whump.

A few words is necessary. Although there is a prequel to this story (“Across Time”) I did not read it since it's a Mary Sue story. An interesting approach to it, but really not my cup of tea. In my opinion, the story is perfectly readable without it. Knowledge of Hercules and Xena Universe will help you, but it's still not a prerequisite. I got to the fourth chapter before I realized why a name seemed familiar; the recognition didn't change a thing.

In other words, if you are an SGA fan and fond of humour and crack, this is definitely the story for you.
Summary (my own): A couple of Gods take a vacation in Pegasus galaxy. There's no accounting for taste, but that's not the main problem here.

"It was driving Rodney nuts.
Somebody was playing practical jokes, and it was driving Rodney completely batshit nuts. At first it was little things - lamps that turned off if you got within five meters of them, stuffed spiders in the cereal. Harmless.

Then it was things like his chair wheels locking and only turning left, or finding Ronan's knives in Teyla’s frilly things. Annoying, embarrassing, humiliating, personal; but ultimately innocuous.
Then it graduated to problems that were definitely more serious, like someone switching translation files so Elizabeth told the Magistrate of Moonoor that his daughter looked like a porcupine in heat rather than a peony in bloom. That had almost been a war and had cost Atlantis a whole crate of very valuable chocolate to fix.

And every night, before he went to sleep, Rodney thought he heard giggling."

The first thing Rodney did when he stepped out of the event horizon was sink knee deep into a giant mud puddle.
"Of course," he hissed. "Of course."
The mud squished between his toes. Quest laughed. "Why is Strife not with us?"
"My 'venture!" Quest said.

In Dealmaker/Dealbreaker Meme myaibou asked me for some recs. Since I made an effort, I'll share with the rest of the world.

I'm just going to list the author pages and THE stories, stories that are excellent and deal with the Dealmaker theme (dealing with ghost issues). That does not mean that the other stories of the authors are not good, on the contrary. List is not in any particular order, there are one-shot introspection pieces and there are long series. Not all of them are masterpieces, but they have some outstanding characteristics.
